Dr Bruce Knight

Founder, CEO and Lead Microbiologist

My journey began at the University of Leeds, where I obtained my degree in Microbiology and studied how to use bacteria to break down pollutants. I later had the pleasure of working at the Rothamstead Research Institute and went on to gain my PhD from Imperial College London. My PhD focused on the natural population of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in cultural soil across Europe, along with the different agricultural practices that have changed the population of bacteria in soil.

After an extensive career in microbiology, working with the likes of Microbio, Becker Underwood and BASF, I took the decision to launch Legume Technology in 2000 with my wife Jacky. I wanted to make a difference in the world and create something unique with a service like no other. The products we currently sell were all created by me in our self-contained, state-of-the-art facility. What I love most are the results we see out in the field – when we get a picture from Azerbaijan, Zambia or Sao Paulo, where someone has used our product on just half of the field, and you can see a clear difference.
